The Pirate Bay has been sold to the tune of 7.7 million. Some speculate the site was sold to pay off the 3.6 million they were fined, but had claimed they would never pay. Pirate Bay blog keeps it vague as to the changes, but that changes to the site will be made. China has flipped over porn and not in a good way. Apparently China is accusing search engine Google of "spreading adult content over the Internet" and has blocked both Google.com and Google.cn. Five representatives of the Spanish music rights/anti-piracy group SGAE took it upon themselves to conduct a search of Juan Colonel’s home in Bonar, Spain without a valid warrant. A recent adhoc study by pornnews.com revealed how well adult industry studios were protecting their content from online piracy. The study used the most trafficked porn-only torrent sites, which also happen to be DMCA compliant, and searched 97 different studio names. The results revealed that 33% of all adult studios make up 80% of all torrent piracy. That’s crazy! Apparently there is some justice in this world… A South Carolina judge issued a temporary restraining order blocking state Attorney General Henry McMaster from pursuing criminal charges against Craigslist. Under section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, a website cannot be held criminally or civilly liable for the postings of its users. Google recently began crunching data in an effort to identify which of its employees were most likely to quit. I guess Google was tired of losing its top executives and mid-level employees to greener pastures (i.e. Twitter). After being harassed and persecuted by the South Carolina Attorney General, Craigslist is fighting back with a lawsuit seeking “declaratory relief and a restraining order” from Attorney General Henry McMaster. Recently, Craigslist removed its “erotic services” category from all its U.S sites to appease McMaster and other state Attorney Generals. Craigslist announced this week that they are dropping the erotic service section on all US sites. Craigslist has been under a lot of pressure to remove this category from several state officials and law enforcement, even more so after the Craigslist killings. Online ad broker TrafficDude has closed its doors and filed for bankruptcy. Clients were notified of the company's closure in a letter from attorney Mac Gallegos, which apologized for any inconvenience. Some believe that the company’s high ethical standards, along with the current state of the economy, may have contributed to its demise. The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) re-launched its website, ASACP.org, with a new look and new features. It looks like Adult Friend Finders luck has gone from bad to worse… Already suffering from sever financial trouble, AFF’s ex-director of HR, Natalie Cedeno, is suing the company after being fired over a series of run-ins with management for practices she believed were improper or illegal. These run-ins range from racial discrimination to sexual harassment committed by top execs. Like many other CA businesses, Kink.com took advantage of a state program that pays to train California employees.
